ESFJ Personality Type – Being a Personality Type ESFJ
The Judger element of the ESFJ personality type means that feeling is extraverted with this personality type. The preference for them in their processing is how they decide and come to conclusions (judgements) which in this case is through Feeling rather than Thinking.
Their preferred attitude and their preference for directing and receiving energy is Extraverted rather than Introverted, so they extravert their feelings. Extraverted Feeling is therefore their dominant preference and this will display itself in their personality:
Helpful, warm and sympathetic. Co-operative, personable and tactful.
As Extraverted Feeling is their dominant function so Sensing (rather than Intuition) is their next preference. They Introvert their how they take in information (Sensing) which leads to them being:
Realistic, practical and down to earth. Consistent, decisive and thorough.
Their dynamic is therefore Extraverted Feeling with Introverted Sensing. Their third preference is Intuition and their inferior function is Introverted Thinking.
In terms of likely stress points, ESFJs should watch out for:
- Times when their values are being compromised
- feeling responsible for disagreements – worry & guilt may result
- others being hurt
- reserves of physical and emotional energy are being drained by taking on responsibility for too many things
Timeline processes in NLP are particularly useful for ESFJs to help them lose the guilt hurt and worry.
When you are with an ESFJ they will respond best to you if you:
- listen carefully
- give them practical information
- are supportive and show empathy.
