Chaining Anchors – NLP Anchoring

Sequential process of moving to a significantly different state.

Useful when practicing NLP for when a client has a significant difference between their present state and the desired state. Each state builds on the one before until the desired state is reached.

Process:

  1. Chose two widely separate steps, involving a ‘stuck’ present state and a desired state.
  2. The first intermediate step is an ‘away from’, to take the person out of the stuck state.
  3. The next intermediate step should take the client ‘towards’ the end state.
  4. No more than five steps.
  5. Steps not too far apart.
  6. Should be ecological.
  7. Should not be the strategy currently run.
