By adopting certain beliefs we can empower ourselves to get brilliant results in ourselves and in others. This is the basis for the Presuppositions of NLP. These are in essence convenient assumptions that get the best out of you and the people that you are in touch with.
If I say I believe in everyones magnificence. When I am in communication with people wouldn’t that belief enable me to treat them in a way that they enjoyed and benefited from? It certainly makes me more relaxed around people. If I really believe in what I am doing and I believe in my clients ability to learn and change then we are going to get magnificent results together, and we do!
Another thing to bear in mind is that people will only preform at the level of your expectation. So that other people are magnificent would be a convenient and powerful assumption.
Presuppositions are assumptions that empower you and the people around you. They are convenient assumptions, beliefs that we put on and that structure our behaviour so that the results from our behaviour produce the outcomes that we desire, so that we get what we want.
Bear in mind if you are working with other people that the results that you want for them will only be possible if you truly believe that they are possible. If you manage sales people for example and you have a target set for them that you don’t think that they are capable of achieving then they will not achieve it.
This works right across the spectrum, if you are a hypnotherapist and you have a client that you don’t believe will go into trance then they will not go into trance. So convenient beliefs get results.
What do you believe about yourself and others? Are these beliefs supporting you in arriving at your destiny? Are they supporting you in living the life that you want to live?
I have listed them on our NLP Presuppositions page and we explain and discuss the Presuppositions of NLP, how to install positive beliefs and change limiting beliefs in detail in our NLP training courses.
I recommend that you adopt these convenient beliefs. Put them on like a hat, walk around with them on your head for a week and see how you feel about them. Notice the positive difference that they make to you.
