The way that you structure your sentences can reveal how you are processing your thoughts. In NLP we learn to construct our sentences in order to communicate in the sensory system that matches the preferred system of the person or persons with whom we are communicating. This amounts to saying the same thing, and in different ways.
Learning
The surprise for me was finding out that I am more visual than I expected. I tend to think that I’m not very visual, but the results from the test, and the predicates I was drawn to, suggest that this is a second to kinaesthetic.
Visual predicates
The surprise for me was seeing that I am more visual than I imagined I would be. I tend to the view that ‘I’m not very visual’, but looking at the results from the test, and reflecting on which predicates surfaced for me, I can see that this is a clear second to kinaesthetic.
Auditory predicates
The surprise for me was hearing that I am more visual than I thought I would be. I tend to think ‘I’m not very visual’, but hearing the results from the test, and paying attention to which predicates resonated for me, it is as clear as a bell that this is second to kinaesthetic.
Kinaesthetic predicates
The surprise for me was coming to grips with the fact that I am more visual than I felt I would be. I tend to feel ‘I’m not very visual’, but moving through the results from the test, and touching on which predicates I was comfortable with, it emerges that this is second to kinaesthetic.
Unspecified or auditory digital predicates
The surprise for me was understanding that I am more visual than I believed I would be. I tend to think that ‘I’m not very visual’, but considering the results from the test, and sensing which predicates were motivating for me, I am now aware that this is second to kinaesthetic.
Everyone has a favoured representational system and we can establish this by observing talk, the way a person sits, looks, build and posture; also by the words (s)he uses. Because I think my preferred representational system is visual, I have described it in visual terms.
Again using auditory predicates.
Everyone has a favoured representational system and we can tune in to this by listening to their talk, hearing what words they use and paying attention to the way they sit, their looks, build and posture.
Again using kinaesthetic predicates.
Everyone has a favoured representational system and we can get a handle on this by tapping into the way they talk and the words they use. These things go hand in hand with their looks, build and posture and this helps us get a feel for their personality.
Again using auditory, digital or unspecified predicates.
Everyone has a favoured representational system and we can precisely determine it by the person’s talk, the logic of his talk, the choice of words, and try to make sense of them. Their looks, build and posture can also give us clues.
Your representational system is not set, it can change, it is not who you are.
V = You see, if you observe your representation system you might find that the next time you do the test it shows off a different primary representational system, as it is not defined for life.
A= Your answer was auditory, to tell the truth it might sound like you have an auditory representation as your primary representation but next time you are asked to go through the test it could be a different answer echoing another primary representational system.
K= This is exciting to connect with your primary representation system which is kinaesthetic, however this is not set in stone and next time you run through the test you might feel and concretely uncover that you use another primary representational system.
AD= You might think that your primary representation system is permanent and sense that it is who you are but it can change.
I learnt in this section how valuable a persons language is to discover what their primary representational state is ,then to use matching predicate words or phrases to get into rapport with them. I enjoyed working out a persons preferred state and it really helped me to understand how it has shaped who they are as a person.
a) A similar sentence with visual predicates – It was clear from this section how valuable it is to observe what a person says to be able to discover what their primary representational state is ,then to use matching predicate words or phrases to get into rapport with them.I enjoyed watching out for words or phrases so I could see what a persons preferred state is.It really helped me to envisage how that has shaped who they are as a person.
b) A similar sentence with auditory predicates – I learnt in this section how valuable it is to listen to the words people use. o be able to hear what their primary representational state is,then to use matching predicates or phrases to get into rapport with them.I enjoyed listening out for specific words or phrases so I could work out what a persons preferred state is .It really helped explain how it has shaped them as a person.
c) A similar sentence using kinesthetic predicates – I felt this section taught me how valuable it is to be aware of the words people use to be able to know what their primary representational state is,then to use matching predicate words or phrases to get into rapport with them.I enjoyed being aware of the words used by people so I could then get in touch with what their preferred state is.It really helped me to have a sense of how it has shaped them as a person.
I have learned how to recognise the representational systems of the people around me.
I have learned how to see the expression of the representational system of others.
I have learned how to listen to the expression of the representational system of others.
I have learned how to recognise the feeling of the representational system in others.
I have learned how to make sense of the representational system of others.
My primary representational system is audio digital. the score is not by a little bit, but by a lot. this is weird to me because I always thought that I was more visual. Now that I have been reading more about it it does make sense.
Very often when I talk to client I use phrases as ” does this make sense” I always thought that I was adapting to the client but apparently it is how I like to talk.
In this section I have learnt that you can easily determine what representational system people have and how I can get in report with these people using the right type of words.
Visual – In this section it became very clear that it is easy see what kind of representational system people display and how I can get in report with these people by focusing on the right type of words.
Auditory – In this section it is mentioned that it is easy to explain what kind of representational system people reply to best and how I can get in report with these people by mentioning the right type of words.
Kinaesthetic – I feel that in this section it was explained that it is easy to determine what representational system people have and that I can get in report with these people by using words that are comfortable to them.
Auditory Digital – In this section I have learnt that you can easily determine what representational system people have and how I can get in report with these people using the right type of words.
